Deceased Name: FRANK P. TARAN

Frank P. Taran, 78, longtime resident of Duluth passed away Thursday, March 15, 2001, surrounded by his family.

 

He was manager of Gershgol's Grocery, operations manager for the Goldfine's Discount Stores and the owner/operator of Taran's Food Market.

 

He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Jarvis. Frank was a former president of American Legion Lakeside Post. He retired to Minneapolis in 1994.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Eva; a sister, Faye Hanna; a brother, Oscar Taran; brother-in-law, Lou Fingerote and sisters-in-law Joyce Fingerote and Lucille Taran; his children and their spouses, Barry and Susan of St. Louis Park, Dale and Roberta of Duluth, Stuart and Nancy of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Carrie and Ricky Bloomfield of Plymouth, Minn.; ''Zaidi'' to his dear grandchildren Jess, Matthew, Adam, Rachel, Rebecca, Dusty, Joey, Jordan, Jared and Sam. He will also be missed by many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Service: 1 p.m. today in Temple Israel, 1602 E. Second St. Shiva is 7 p.m. today at 4615 Otsego St. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society or American Lung Association. Arrangements by Hodroff & Sons, Minneapolis (612) 871-1234.
